Accessibility Usable by everyone
Accessibility statement
This site should work for every business owner, however they browse. Here's what we do, and how to tell us when we miss.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across orkestr8er.com.
What we do
- Automated checks on every page. Before changes go live, every page is tested with the axe accessibility checker at desktop and phone sizes, including the home page in the middle of its tour.
- A keyboard path through everything. A “skip” link at the top, a clear yellow outline on whatever has focus, and a menu that closes with Escape.
- Motion is optional. If your device is set to reduce motion, the home page skips its animated tour and tells the same story as plain text. Anyone can switch to that version with “Read it without animation.”
- Readable contrast. Against the dark background, body text measures 17.5:1 and the lighter gray text 8.2:1, well past the 4.5:1 that WCAG AA asks for.
- Labels for screen readers. Form fields, buttons and the tour's timeline stops have names screen readers can announce, and pictures that carry meaning have text descriptions.
What we know isn't perfect yet
- The home page tour is a visual, scroll-driven animation. Its words are in the plain text version, but the pictures themselves are best seen.
- Automated checks don't catch everything, and we haven't yet had the site reviewed in full by people who use screen readers every day. That's on our list.
